One important mission of SEND is improving opportunities for greater educational attainment on Indianapolis' near southeast side. Five years ago, it was noted that about 50 percent of children in neighborhood schools do not complete high school.

In response to the need to address this issue, SEND assisted neighborhood residents in developing the Charter Center, which today houses an independent. The Southeast Neighborhood School of Excellence (SENSE), opened in 2004 and this year serves students in grades K-7.

We also partner with other institutions and organizations to bring educational opportunities to Greater Fountain Square.
